With its prime location and 32-acres of wooded surroundings, life at The Virginian has always been a perfect blend of serenity, activity, and picturesque views. However, following the completion of $67 million in renovations, residents are enjoying an even more luxurious experience.
Among the enhancements are pickleball courts, a full-service spa, concierge-level residences, a multi-denominational chapel, a wine cellar, and renewed living spaces.
Jenna Ballard, director of sales and marketing at The Virginian, said, “The front grounds now have a putting court, bocce ball court, pickleball, and our ‘Central Bark’ dog park. We also host large events and parties on the grounds, where residents and visitors can enjoy our beautiful entry fountain, a firepit, and the outdoor kitchen.”
The Virginian offers residents a variety of activities to serve everyday living and opportunities to get out and explore the city and surrounding areas.
“We host open play on our pickleball courts three times a week. Lessons are available if needed, but it’s primarily fun, social, casual play,” said Ballard.
Residents are also benefiting from a new wellness hub, which houses the Elysium Spa, fitness center, physician’s office, and an assembly room.
“The Elysium Spa is a full-scale spa,” said Ballard. “It offers hair services, waxing, pedis, and more.”
The new fitness center features state-of-the-art HUR equipment that allows residents to sync their physical activity to Apple watches. Residents can also maintain their health on site at the physician’s office, which offers appointments seven days a week and has more than 20 physicians with privileges.
When they aren’t out-and-about on the property, residents can relax in their newly upgraded apartments.
“All apartments went through full renovations. Every unit is very modern and has its own washer and dryer, LVP flooring and Shaw carpeting, a full kitchen, and picturesque views,” said Ballard.
Residents who want an even higher level of exclusivity will love life in the new fifth-floor Concierge Club.
“This is really an elevated, enhanced level of individual living,” shared Ballard. “These residents want daily happy hours, specialized outings, and the best of the best.”
These tailored services and amenities are extensive. In addition to standard weekly housekeeping, Concierge Club residents receive a quarterly deep cleaning. Upon move-in, each fifth-floor resident receives a personal Apple watch to keep track of appointments, set notifications, and pair with fitness center equipment. An on-floor butler assists with appointments, reservations, dry cleaning, and more. Residents park worry-free with complimentary valet parking and on-call transportation services. They also have access to numerous monthly self-care deliveries, including wine or beer clubs, a chocolate or fruit-of-the-month club, and monthly floral arrangements. Daily happy hours and Concierge-exclusive outings round out the experience.
“Our Concierge-level residents recently went to see Mama Mia at the Kennedy Center. These types of outings are included and go above and beyond the already enhanced living that all our residents enjoy,” said Ballard.
Also taking the living experience above and beyond is the Rock Creek Grill, a fifth-floor, farm-to-table restaurant that serves a seven-course dinner, four days a week.
“The Rock Creek Grill is quite an experience. During every service, the executive chef shares the wine pairing and inspiration. We have the same vendors as the Michelin Star restaurants in D.C. and New York. We don’t even have refrigerators because it’s all fresh and handmade on site,” said Ballard.
The Rock Creek Grill is one of five distinct dining options at The Virginian. In addition to regular wine and cheese pairing events, the new wine cellar is available for private dining and wine storage rental. There is also a quick-serve bistro with grab-and-go items and an assortment of pastries made daily by the new pastry chef. The sports bar is a great spot to grab a burger while watching your favorite team on one of the restaurant’s five screens. In the main dining room, residents dine while surrounded by the community’s woods. The menu changes regularly to continually offer variety and interesting cuisine.
“We are unique in that we have a full gluten-free and vegan menu available at each of our five restaurants. We also have a dietician, so we’re able to meet every resident’s dietary needs,” shared Ballard.
From picturesque views to newly renovated apartments, maintenance-free living, vibrant amenities, and regular outings, life at The Virginian is idyllic.
“The Virginian is the most premiere senior living organization in Northern Virginia. We offer the full continuum of care while being a rental model, all while continuing our 40-year proven track record of serving Northern Virginia’s senior population. We look forward to carrying this tradition on through the next generation of seniors looking for active senior living,” said Ballard.
