Thanks for checking out this second installment of our best neighborhoods in Montgomery County series. This time we’ll be covering the beautifully green and walkable community of Rockville. Located just a bit further north-west of D.C. than Bethesda, Rockville is a great choice for anyone commuting into the city.
More recently many Biomed and technology industries have set up shop in Rockville, offering career opportunities without the daily travel headaches. As you can imagine, homes sell extremely fast in Rockville and as such, we’ll be covering only two communities in this article.
The first is a Winchester Homes townhome development called Chapman Row at Twinbrook Metro. The second is Westside at Shady Grove Metro. As you can probably already tell from their names, both of these communities are conveniently located along the Metro line making the daily commute that much easier.
Chapman Row at Twinbrook Metro
Winchester Homes did an outstanding job choosing the location and style of Chapman Row at Twinbrook Metro a modern townhome community.
Though it won’t work for larger families, the three bedrooms, two-and-a-half bath townhomes featured here are great for small families, empty nesters, and young professional couples. The closest Metro stop is just two blocks north of the entrance of Chapman Row and you can walk south two blocks to the shopping and dining at Pike & Rose.
The townhome floorplans are also pretty outstanding. Each boasts spacious living areas, flexible floor-plans to fit your needs, and outstanding rooftop terraces. Choose from one of the two-floor plans, Ellison or Granger. Granger, the larger of the two, offers the option for a wet bar on the third level—a great feature right next to your rooftop terrace.
Westside at Shady Grove Metro
One great thing about this neighborhood other than its convenience is the price point. Westside at Shady Grove Metro by EYA has prices starting at about $100,000 less than Chapman Row. The downside is that you’re a little further out from Rockville and D.C., but you’re located right along major express routes and the Metro Red Line, so getting to Virginia, Maryland, or D.C. is still very easy. Plus, you can shop and eat right inside this little community.
Much of the commercial space is still being developed, so you may have to wait a little while to get the full experience, but eventually, you’ll have everything you need right outside your front door. Of the five floorplans originally offered, only three are still available—The Fitzgerald, The Bancroft, and The Copeland. Of these, The Copeland is the largest at up to four bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths. The space in these townhomes is another huge draw. If you have an opportunity and are in the market for a Maryland townhome, you should definitely go and check out these two communities. As we mentioned at the beginning of this article, the convenience of these communities really speaks for itself. If you have a larger family or are planning to, we suggest Westside at Shady Grove Metro primarily for the size of the homes and number of bedrooms.
